First Impressions
This thing is nice. The packaging is simple and quickly reveals a quality product, the sort of product you see yourself using immediately and being proud to show off. As a traditional bifold, it’s a little larger than I usually like, but the look and function make me consider making a switch.
Build Quality
Quality leather, quality stitching. Unlike some other leather wallets, the card slots use a different material on the inside and are stitched over with leather, making the slots function better and the overall build feel more premium. The pull tab works great right out of the box, where some other wallets needed the tab forced a few times before it worked smoothly.
Capacity & Fit
- Card slots: 3 quick-access
- Pull-tab storage: 8 cards (realistically 5 before it feels stuffed)
- Cash: 10+ bills easily
- Reality check: They claim 11 cards total – I called BS, but technically it fits. At Thanksgiving-stomach levels of stuffing. 5 in the pull-tab is much more manageable.
Daily Carry Experience
As a front-pocket carrier, this wallet is a little bulky, not leaving much room for some of my other EDC items. That said, it doesn’t stick out too much and isn’t dramatically more noticeable than my minimalist wallets. Cards and cash are easy to access, the wallet is sleek and clean, and I really like taking it out to use. The pull tab has been great for accessing less-used cards like my medical card or work credit card, while the main slots work perfectly for daily drivers.
One Arm Test
The single card slot and the front-most slot on the two-card side work well for the One Arm Test. The way the slots were designed, cards stay in place but slide in and out easily. Pull tabs are nearly impossible with one hand, so don’t keep any daily-use cards in there.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Very premium quality
- More space for cash than similar wallets
- Cards are easy to access, pull tab works smoothly
- Looks great – something you’re proud to pull out
Cons
- A little bigger than I like (but that’s personal preference)
Who It's For
Looking for a traditional wallet that’s high quality and looks great? Need more space for cash, especially in countries that prefer cash over cards? This is a fantastic option you’ll be very happy with. Looking for something more minimal and smaller? Probably not the wallet for you.
Final Verdict
Bellroy makes a fantastic product and this wallet is no exception. It really makes me reconsider my stance on minimalist wallets in favor of something more traditional. However, I don’t need the extra cash or card slots, and having something this bulky in my front pocket doesn’t work for me long term. If you want a traditional bifold done right, this is it.
Rating: 9/10 for me, 10/10 for traditional wallet enthusiasts
